    Story of Demonstration Class——School of Energy and Power Engineering successfully undertakes demonstration class entitled Principles of Boiler

    On the morning of March 18, 2021, the demonstration class in the scheduled periods of time of the School of Energy and Power Engineering was successfully held in Room 2213 of Jingjiang Building. The lecture entitled Principles of Boiler was given by Associate Professor Du Min of the Institute of Thermal Energy Engineering. Young faculty members that have been employed in recent three years listened to the lecture and participated in the after-class discussion.

    In this demonstration class, Du delivered the contents concerning air preheater in boiler, including such knowledge points as the function, classification and structure, and working process of air preheater, focusing on three typical types of air preheater. Based on the reason of introducing air preheater into boiler, she expounded the definition and function of air preheater, detailing the working process, advantages and disadvantages, application occasions of the three types of air preheater. Du’s lecture is characterized by rich contents, accurate expression and succinct organization. In the process of classroom instruction, she attached great importance to the interaction and communication with students, trying to activate the students’ thinking potential by highlights the key points of her lecture. She also integrated her own research achievements into her lecture, including a large number of case pictures in her PPT, which effectively stimulated the students’ interest in learning, mobilized their learning enthusiasm, and reinforced students’ involvement in the classroom instruction.

    The University-level demonstration class constructed a useful teaching exchange platform for the young faculty. Through attending and learning the demonstration class, young teachers gained valuable teaching experience and promoted their teaching capability through interaction with other colleagues.
