On the afternoon of November 11th, the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering held an ideological and political open class of College Physics Experiment in Physics Building 511.
The class is delivered by Xu Chenguang, the director of Physics Experiment Center, who has won the second prize of Jiangsu Provincial College Basic Physics Experiment Teachers' Best Class competition, and the second prize of 7th Jiangsu University Teachers' Teaching Competition. There are 20 undergraduate students majoring in engineering management and Mathematics (normal) and some graduate students of School of Physics and Electronic Engineering participated in this open class. Sun Hongxiang, the vice dean of the school, and some young teachers attended the teaching observation activity.
The theme of this open class is "Millikan Oil Drop Experiment - Determination of electron charge". Mr. Xu Chenguang first introduced the experimental background of electronic charge measurement, reviewed the difficulties of electronic charge measurement experiment and the unremitting efforts of scientists under the background of discovering electrons, carried out relevant scientific literacy education for students, and encouraged students to study hard, persevere and never give up. On this basis, combined with the experimental diagram, the method of oil droplet charge measurement is explained. The students are guided to think through questions, and the measurement expression is derived from the measurement of oil drop charge, the measurement of oil drop mass, the measurement of oil drop radius, and the measurement of movement speed when the oil drop drops in a straight line at a uniform speed. Finally, the experimental idea, design and conception are summarized to reflect the beauty of physical experiment.
The open class takes "curriculum ideological and political" as the starting point, organically combines practical teaching with curriculum ideological and political teaching, and the teaching effect has been unanimously recognized by the teachers and students present. The School of Physics and Electronic Engineering will continue to adhere to the combination of value guidance and knowledge teaching, dig deep into the ideological and political elements of the course, continue to strengthen the construction of teachers, vigorously promote the improvement of teachers' teaching skills, and provide all-round support for the promotion of the ideological and political teaching mode of the course.
