In the afternoon of June 1, 2022, Gao Ling, Wang Shu and Wang Yucheng, teacher from the Department of European Languages, School of Foreign Languages, Jiangsu University, conducted a demonstration open class on "Matador, Vodka and the Fallen Berlin Wall: A Comparative Study of Spanish, Russian and German Cultures" in the classroom 405 of Sanshan Building. The lecture was attended by Li Chongyue, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Yang Jing, Director of the Department of European Languages and other teachers.
The three teachers answered the questions raised by the students on the "Rain Classroom" platform. Based on the topics of interest to the students, they presented two different views on bullfighting culture in Spain: "tradition - should be preserved" or "cruelty - should be banned". In the process of explaining the culture of bullfighting in Spain, students were invited to discuss the two different views of the public on this activity, in the aim of improving analytical and critical thinking skills.
In addition, during the introduction of the food culture of each country, from the characteristics and traditions of Russian bread to the global food crisis caused by the international confli, students were invited to discuss the food security policy of China - "keeping the rice bowl firmly in our own hands". Students should cherish their happy life today, cherish food more and stop wasting. Finally, after introducing the Garbage classification in Germany, the teachers showed the rules of Garbage classification in Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing, and introduced the government's "emission peak" and "carbon neutrality" policies and plans, and shared with the students the environmental tips that they can do in their daily lives.
The leaders and teachers who attended the lecture had a discussion afterwards and confirmed the good effect of the lecture.
