On the morning of July 6th, an ideological and political school-level demonstration open class of "Introduction of Food Science and Engineering " was held in classroom A304, organized by the School of Food and Bioengineering. Prof. Cunshan Zhou, vice dean of school of Food and Biological Engineering, hosted the open class. And the class was lectured by Di Zhang, Yansheng Zhao, Lei Zhang and Xingrong Liu from the Department of Food Science and Engineering. Faculty representatives from each department, assistant teachers and some teachers from other schools attended the teaching observation.
Introductory course is the required course for professional knowledge and guidance, as well as the first professional course for freshmen. Teacher Di Zhang took the connotation of "science" and "engineering" as the breakthrough point, explained how to integrate ideological and political elements into the course and guide freshmen to understand their major correctly and love it. Through the introduction of professional training program, teacher Lei Zhang deepened students' understanding of the professional training system and tried to change students' stereotypical impression of food major. Teacher Yansheng Zhao focused on technical engineering, nutrition, health, safety supervision and management, etc., and described the connotation of food majors that fit the strategic needs of Healthy China. Teacher Xingrong Liu recalled her professional learning, teaching career, teaching experiences and the indissoluble bond with food in life. In the two-hour course, the lecturers inspired students to the patriotism, professional ethics, industry norms, social responsibility through the combination of knowledge and ideological and political education. It realized the integration of ideological and political content and professional knowledge, which received the resonance and full recognition of the teachers present.
Prof. Zhou made a summary of the open class. He suggested that young teachers should find the right points of "curriculum ideology and politics" in the professional course, then achieve better combination of ideological and political elements and teaching content. Then he emphasized that open class is a stage for each teacher to show their teaching ideas and abilities, and an important way for young teachers to develop their professional skills and teaching methods. It is also an important measure to further implement moral education, promote curriculum ideology and politics firmly, and guide young teachers to integrate ideology and politics into the teaching system effectively. At last, Prof. Zhou communicated with the young teachers who participated in the open class.
