In order to promote the new teaching method and improve the teaching effect, with the support of dean's office of Jiangsu University, the Institute of science and technology information held an open course of literature retrieval for undergraduates in classroom 0809, Sanjiang building on the morning of April 26, 2021. This open class was given by Su Wencheng, the first prize winner of the 2020 teaching competition of Jiangsu University and a young teacher of the Institute of science and technology information. The young teachers of the Institute and some teachers from outside colleges observed the lecture.
In this open class, Mr. Su adopts the teaching tool of Rain Classroom combined with specific cases and on-the-spot practice to lead the students to gradually realize the importance of information and information retrieval in different application scenarios such as daily life, study, scientific research and work, especially how to use professional retrieval methods to identify false information on the Internet. It further makes students realize that mastering information retrieval skills is of great significance to cultivate self-learning ability, lifelong learning ability, innovation ability and critical thinking ability, and clarifies the teaching purpose of literature retrieval course. Finally, through random roll call, barrage and on-site questioning, Mr. Su led the students to learn some basic concepts such as information, information literacy, information source and literature classification, and introduced the teaching scope and learning focus of this course.
After class, the obsevers agreed that Mr Su's teaching content is focused, the language is vivid and interesting, the classroom atmosphere control ability is strong, the interaction between teachers and students is good, and they gave positive recognition to the Rain Classroom to help improve the teaching effect. This open class also tried to open a synchronous live broadcast for all library teachers through the enterprise wechat, which made up for the lack of seats in the classroom, some teachers could not attend the class, and expanded the learning and communication scope of the open class.
