At 8:00 a.m., March 26, 2021, the School of Mathematical Sciences held a demonstration class entitled Advanced Mathematics in Room 711 of Sanjiang Building. The activity was undertaken for the purpose of promoting the faculty’s professional quality, improve their teaching skills, and promote the exchange of teaching experiences. The course was taught by Du Ruijin, who had won the honorary title of “Top 10 Faculty Members of Jiangsu University”. More than 10 teachers of the School participated in the event.
Du’s design for the classroom instruction was sound and her presentation of teaching materials went deeper each step. She distinguished between important and unimportant contents and highlighted the key points. She cited practical examples to illustrate the more abstract contents concerned with basic theories. She expounded the profound knowledge in plain words, trying the inculcate the morality into the students unawares. The atmosphere was enlivened by the harmonious interaction between the teacher and students.
Through this demonstration class, a platform has set up for the faculty to learn from each other and grow together by offering a paragon of classroom instruction. After class, all participants were involved in a heated discussion. These activities are expected to promote the long-term exchange and discussion of the faculty, meanwhile promoting to some extent the reform of classroom instruction and helping improve the teaching level of the School faculty.
