Teaching mode innovation is one of the critical ways that help teachers improve their teaching effect and quality. To enhance internal teaching exchanges among teachers and improve the innovative teaching awareness of young teachers, a teaching salon themed by “Discussion on Innovating Teaching Mode of Department of International Education of Chinese Language” was successfully held by the Department of International Education of Chinese Language of the School of Literature at Room 1610, Sanjiang Building on the afternoon of May 26. Teacher Wu Qiong, head of the Department of International Education of Chinese Language, presided over the activity, which was also attended by three supervisors, including Teacher Tao from the School of Teacher Education, Teacher Du, from the College of Marxism and Teacher Zhang, from the College of Finance and Economics, as well as 11 instructors of the Department of International Education of Chinese Language and, in particular, Zhou Du, assistant dean of College of Literature.
Firstly, Zhou Du, assistant dean of College of Literature, fully affirmed the significance of the teaching salon organized by the Department of International Education of Chinese Language by considering the current direction of teaching reform. Zhou pointed out that teaching mode innovation should be elaborately designed based on the major orientation and the training targets of the department. On the basis of the results of teachers’ questionnaires from the mid-semester teaching inspection, Wu Qiong, head of the Department of International Education of Chinese Language, introduced the main teaching modes of specialized courses for the department’s undergraduates.
Wang Liyuan, Gao Ruoyu and Wang Yong, the Department’s young teacher representatives, and Ni Yongming, Shang Aixue and Luo Lixin, the Department’s senior teacher representatives, shared their experience of how to innovate teaching modes and methods respectively based on their teaching experience in specialized courses, such as the innovative design of students’ teaching display, innovative transformation of teaching thought and the setting and principle of the final assessment methods. Teachers also forecasted the teaching mode development tendency of the School of Literature in the future and sincerely expressed their pursuit for emerging technologies such as visual stimulation technology in order to facilitate their classroom teaching. Some teachers put forward their suggestions and opinions on the shortening of specialized course class hours according to the cultivation plant in recent years, which triggered hot discussion among all present teachers.
In the end, Zhou Du, assistant dean of College of Literature made a summary about the main contents of the salon. The three supervisors also commented the contents discussed in the salon and expressed their best wishes to the future development of the School’s International Education of Chinese Language. They said that teachers should work diligently, find happiness and achieve the sense of achievements in work. All these words won the warm applause from the present teachers.
With active interactions and warm atmosphere, the teaching salon proved to be a great success and played an active role in the reform and innovation of the Department’s teaching mode.
