The School of Foreign Languages Held A Teaching Salon Successfully

In order to bring the foreign language’ s superiority in teaching students into full play, push forward the teaching reform and strengthen the exchange and cooperation of ideological and political teaching among teachers, a teaching salon named “The Integration of Expertise and Education— A Study on Teaching Reform of Japanese Major under the Ideological and Political Concept of Curriculum” was held in the 513 Academic Lecture Hall of the Zhulou building of the School of Foreign Languages on the afternoon of May 12thWu Peng, vice dean of the school of foreign languages, heads of all departments and key teachers attended the salon. The keynote speaker was Zhou Rong, Chair of Japanese department.

Combined with the teaching tradition in Chinese history and the current situation of “fully development education" in foreign universities, Zhou Rong, according to the classroom teaching reform of Japanese major under the background of new liberal arts, first introduced the concept of “Expertise” and “education”, and then shared her views about how to integrate ideology and politics into professional teaching. Zhou Rong pointed out that teachers of Japanese major should give full play to the leading role of their professional value in the process of teaching, excavate the ideological and political education resources of specialized courses, implant ideals and beliefs in the minds of students in an “invisible” way, realize the simultaneous development of knowledge and value, and finally achieve the effect of “moistening things silently”. Then, Quan Xiaojing, deputy Chair of the Japanese department, took Selected Reading of Japanese Newspapers and Periodicals as an example to demonstrate the organic combination of ideological and political and Japanese teaching.

 

Wu Peng finally made a summary of the teaching salon. He fully affirmed the ideological and political educating work of the Japanese Department in recent years. He believed that this salon has broadened teachers' vision, solved the problem of the integration of students' comprehensive foreign language application ability and the goal of fostering virtue through education, and promoted the teaching reform of Japanese major.
