During weeks 11-13, the Center for Faculty Development undertook the Youth Faculty Microteaching Skill Rehearsal of the First Half of 2021 in the Center for Teaching Skill Training. The program was conducted for the purpose of further promoting the professional skills of young faculty and help those in their period of teaching assistantship quickly command the basic skills for classroom instruction. 14 rounds of activities were organized to train 60 faculty members from 20 schools, colleges or departments.
During the microteaching rehearsal, each trainee chose a chapter or one or two knowledge points in advance according to the teaching task assigned to him or her, made a 15-minute lesson plan and PPT, and gave a 10 to 15-minute trial lecture in the microteaching classroom. The instructor offered comprehensive guidance to his or her trainee(s) on lesson plan writing, PPT making, trial lecturing etc. The microteaching rehearsals of all trainees were videotaped on the spot. The trainees were allowed to copy the videos for future analysis of their teaching performance.
The microteaching rehearsal let the young faculty rapidly grow up, making them more confident about their classroom instruction. The Center for Faculty Development will well perform its duty as it has always done, providing better services to the faculty in their teaching skill promotion and professional growth.
