On December 22, the Center for Faculty Development of UJS carried out the assessment of young teacher assistants’ learning during the second half of 2021 at the Training Center for Normal University Students. The assessment activity was presided by deputy director Li Xinchao and vice president Tian Lixin delivered a speech to the young teachers.
In the speech, Tian Lixin pointed out that under the country’s initiative of cultivating teachers with “four virtues”, the assessment was of paramount importance for young teachers’ growth. It was hoped that young teachers could seize the opportunity to pass down the good teaching traditions and promote “four returns”, continually improving their own teaching capacity as well as teaching effects and facilitating their own professional development. Moreover, Tian Lixin put forward requirements for the assessment work. Firstly, the assessment should be implemented seriously to ensure the young teachers were qualified to teach students. Secondly, the assessment should be objective as well as professional, which could make teachers realize that they were responsible for the university, their students and themselves.
65 young teachers who had finished all training tasks were assessed. The teaching supervisors, the experts from the academic administration as well as the champion representatives of the previous teaching contests were invited to evaluate these young teachers’ teaching notebooks, instructional designs, PPTs, on-site teaching demonstrations, etc. The assessed teachers learned from the whole process.
The teaching assessment of young teacher assistants is conducted once every semester with the purpose of helping young teachers better engage in teaching, which plays an crucial role in improving their teaching quality and level and building a team of high-quality professional teachers.
