Story of Demonstration Class——School of Physics and Electronic Engineering successfully undertakes University-level demonstration class of ideological and political education entitled College Physics

On the afternoon of March 26, the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering held a University-level demonstration class entitled College Physics in Room 207 of Sanjiang Building. The lecture was given by Feng Xu of the University Physics Teaching Department. The School Deputy Dean Sun Hongxiang, the University Physics Teaching Department Dean Feng Wei, and the Department Party Branch Secretary Zhang peipeipei, the Department of Physics Deputy Dean Lv Cuihong, as well as young faculty members of the School attended the class.

In the demonstration class, Feng Xu first reviewed the knowledge about half wave loss in the previous lecture, expounding the size relation between the refractive index of thin film and the refractive index of the upper and lower media, so as to prepare students for the new contents in this lecture. Then Feng Xu inspired the students to think about the concept of wedge before explaining the knowledge of wedge and its application. His lecture ranges from the experimental device for and the phenomenon of wedge interference, to the derivation of optical path difference expression and the analysis of interference fringes characteristics, and then to the application of wedge in industrial production and daily life. Feng’s lecture was both lively and interesting, so that the enthused students could deeply conceive the wide and wonderful usage of wedge while understanding and analyzing the properties of wedge quantitatively. His lecture actually aroused the students’ interest in physics and deepened their understanding of the guiding role of theory in practice.

In the teaching process, Feng Xu adopted the drawings and measurement results of the wedge physics experiment to verify the conclusions drawn through classroom discussion, so that students could personally realize the materialist epistemology that says “Practice is the only standard to test the truth”. Thus he introduced the ideological and political elements into his course teaching. The ideological and political elements were well integrated into the specialized knowledge of the lecture that highlighted prominent key points. Through the frequent interaction between teachers and students, the classroom atmosphere was enlivened and good teaching effect was produced. After class the faculty members who attended the class conducted an in-depth discussion on the teaching contents, and they fully affirmed the teaching effect of this demonstration class while putting forward some useful suggestions.

This demonstration class fully demonstrated the fairly high level and profound knowledge preparedness in classroom instruction, professional knowledge and ideological and political literacy of the faculty of the public fundamental course entitled College Physics. It provided a useful reference for the future classroom instruction and ideological and political education of College Physics.
