On June 10, Jiangsu University Center for Faculty Development held the First Half of 2021 Assessment and Acceptance of Teaching Work of Young Faculty in their Assistantship (Traineeship) Period in the Teaching Skills Training Center in the Edifice Affiliated to the Main Building. The teachers to meet the qualifications and pass the school-level assessment this time added up to 60, more than double the number of qualified trainees of the previous semester.
The young faculty were divided into four groups. The assessment and acceptance was conducted in accordance with prescribed procedures. The panelists of each group conducted a review of the Teaching Record of Young Faculty in Their Assistantship Period and their classroom instruction on the spot. The panelists made comments on the performance of young faculty from the aspects of teaching plan, PPT, verbal skills, teaching organization, blackboard handwriting etc. They pointed out the deficiencies of and made suggestions on the classroom instruction of young faculty. All trainees were present throughout the assessment and acceptance.
The assessment and acceptance was a good test of the training work of the novice faculty in the past year. It also provided a platform for young teachers to learn from each other, conduct a self-reappraisal, and enhance their teaching skills. Under the guidance of the experts, the young faculty made significant progress in their teaching ability and mastered the fundamental teaching skills for their future work.
