On December 5, Associate Professor Guo Lin of the European Department of the School of Foreign Languages conducted a demonstration of the opening class "Russian conversation for Zero basic" in the classroom 602 of Sanshan Building. The lecture was attended by the teachers of School of Foreign Languages – Yang Jing, Wang Yuecheng, Peng Ting, Wang Shu, Zhang Yan and other teachers.
The opening class is focused on the topic “in a supermarket” and is introduced by the Russian numerals and their usage learned in the last class. By recognizing the denomination of Russian roubles and their cultural background as knowledge consolidation and cultural development, the words with the meaning of the common Russian fruits, vegetables and Russian unique food, common sentence patterns and polite expressions for asking prices were taught. In the course of teaching students vocabulary pronunciation, sentence pattern use and situational dialogue, students were also introduced to the general situation of food trade cooperation between China and Russia in recent years, and students showed great interest in Russian snacks and Russian people's acceptance and evaluation of Chinese food.
The leaders and teachers who attended the opening class affirmed the effect of the class and gave valuable suggestions on how to let students get vocabulary and sentence patterns quickly. The demonstration class integrated the values education through courses, demonstrated the quality of the school-level public elective course construction of the School of Foreign Languages, and also promoted the teaching exchange and learning among teachers who undertake different teaching tasks of the school.
